With all the great Cyber Monday deals going on, I thought I'd do a giveaway to get us back on track budget wise next month or for our resolutions for the New Year! :)
I was sent the Savvycents Wallet to try out and it was perfect timing! I was looking for a new wallet and my husband and I were having the "where did the money go this month" talk. :) The savvy cents wallet helped us get back to going by the budget and putting our money where we wanted it to go.
Savvycents looks like a regular wallet from the outside, but on the inside is an accordion style file system to separate money, coupons, receipts or store discount cards by categories. I used it to separate out my money for groceries, gas, eating out, and extra and still had space to carry around my most used and most likely to use coupons (diapers, high value body wash coupon, and gain - free- coupon). It helped us both see the money by using cash and feel more organized.
Do you have a great "get back on budget" tip? Win your own Savvycents wallet when you share!

My tip is more to keep my husband on track! I always give him a set amount of money every pay period to buy things that he wants while he's at work. (food, drinks, etc.) When that's gone - that's it! ;)
I love brandeesims tip. I do that every pay period for my husband. Also, I make a goal for our savings account for how much money I want to have saved. I have short-term goals (a certain amt every pay period) and long term (every 6 months and year). It helps me control my spending. It's such a treat to look at my goals and see that I've accomplished them.
The biggest budget tip I have is don't impulse shop. If you want it but don't need it, wait a week for it. Think it over and at least for me, most of the time I end up deciding I don't really want it after all. It was just a I was there in the store and wanted it feeling that passed.
We started the cash only system earlier this year and it has made a huge difference! I also do a budget every month (actually twice a month for each paycheck) to take into account extra things or changes. This really helps!
When I need to get back on track I use spreadsheets to help keep track of my spending.
i only spend what i have no credit cards here. i am only alotted so much money for each exspense. example: food, car ins, house, utilities ect.
I track all my expenses last month and put them in categories such as Groceries and I will stay below what i spent last month.

I like to keep a runnning total on an Excel spreadsheet so I can alway see what's going on.
I entered on the form as Jaimie K.
I use mint.com because it helps us track EXACTLY where our money goes and shows us if we're sticking to our budget or not. It makes ALL the difference in the world because it can be a real wake-up call to know EXACTLY where you're throwing money!
(LOL, I was talking about wallets the other day with a friend, and I said, "I want the one Sarah posted at My Military Mommy..." so I went back to find it, and hopefully the contest is still good...figured it would be worth a try. :)
