Steps to Save - Step #19 - Daily Deal Sites

Sorry there were no Steps to Save last week with the Twitter party and unveiling of the Holiday Gift Guide we had a lot going on! I hope you had fun at the Twitter party - such good gifts - and I hope you are able to get some good ideas from the Holiday Gift Guides!

Tonight I'd like to talk a little more about Daily Deals. Even though we have touched on them before I wanted to talk about them again since I love them so much!! This is the first year I have used them to buy many of my gifts so far. I have saved a lot (50% off and more) and have found some unique gifts! I love saving money, but even more is finding that perfect gift. :)

A couple things I wanted to point out to make daily deal shopping a little less intimidating and super easy:

1. You can buy deals in a city you do not live in :) If the deal is for a website or a national store and it's a good one - grab it up! You can buy and use from anywhere!
For example today's Groupon in Charleston is to pay $15 for $30 worth of personalized children's clothing and gifts from Makaboo.com.  (sooo cute!) Even if you don't live in Charleston, you can still get the Groupon and use it online.
*Some of the best photo deals are daily deals and can be used anywhere

2. When you buy a daily deal - many sites do not send a confirmation e-mail or a voucher number to you immediately.  I do not know why, I just know that many wait up to 48 hours before you can actually use the daily deal...weird, but it kind of freaks people out, so I just wanted to let you know!

3. Use Daily Deals to help with Travel Expenses! One of the best ways to save when traveling is to find the daily deal sites in their area and buy vouchers for discounts on restaurants in the area and activities.  A great way to save and have fun!

4. Use Daily Deals to try something new. There are great restaurant deals on Groupon and Living Social frequently which makes it a great time to try something new!

5. If you love labels - love these deal sites! Now I know the secret to finding designer labels on the cheap - daily deal sites!

6. Sometimes I use the term "daily deals" sites incorrectly...some of the deals (like on Eversave and Rue La La) last for 2 or more days!

7. Gift ideas from daily deal sites - anything with photos, designer clothing, toys, an "experience" gift (restaurant voucher, movie tickets, discounted entry fees, etc.), the cutest kids stuff I've seen around, unique gifts for the person that has everything, and many more.
*When the voucher prints out it doesn't show how much you saved, so don't worry about it telling all to the person receiving the gift!

8. Lastly here is a list of daily deals sites I use and I have heard other readers have used.  Sign up so you don't miss a thing and to check them out!  You can also check the blog each morning as I put together some of the best national deals out there for that day! :) Super Easy!
