We had an opportunity to review a dinner for two at Applebee's.
We started off our meal with an appetizer of Wonton Chicken Tacos. Which are taco shell shaped wontons stuffed with grilled chicken and asian slaw.
You get four wonton tacos in your appetizer. The shells were nice and crunchy, the chicken was moist and the slaw was fresh and light.
For one of our entrees we picked the Cowboy Burger.
The burger is topped with bacon, onion strings, white cheddar cheese and BBQ sauce, and comes with a side of fries. The burger was juicy, the sauce was tangy, and the bun was soft on the inside but toasted on the outside.
The other entree was the Provolone Stuffed Meatballs with Fettuccine.
Each meatball is stuffed with provolone cheese and coated with marinara sauce, the fettuccine has a parmesan cream sauce, the mixture creates a nice flavor combination by pairing the slightly spicy marinara with the creamy parmesan. The dish comes with a piece of toasted garlic bread, which is good for soaking up any excess sauce.
For dessert we tried something small and something sizzling.
One of our desserts was the Hot Fudge Sundae Shooter.
It's your typical hot fudge sundae, vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, whip cream, and topped off with a cherry, all in a shooter glass. A perfect little treat to finish off a great meal.
The other dessert we tried was the Sizzling Apple Pie.
It comes to the table making a delicious sizzling noise, it is made up of layers of apple on top of a flaky crust. The apples are covered with a walnut streusel, and is served with some vanilla ice cream and caramel butter sauce. This is a delicious dessert that is a great updated version of apple pie a la mode.
In all we had a great meal, we especially enjoyed the wonton tacos and the desserts. Applebee's has many great menu options to choose from, with very reasonable pricing, making it a great choice for a family outing or a couples date night.
