Toddler Costume Review...My Little Mermaid

I have three girls who love, love to play dress up!  They love to pretend to be their favorite princesses, fairies, cartoon characters and more so we have quite a few costumes around the house. Needless to say, I was thrilled when Costume Discounters contacted me to do a review!

They have a large selection of costumes for babies, but we opted for the cute Mermaid costume pictured above. The Little Mermaid is one of our favorite films to watch together so my daughter enjoyed getting to be "Ariel" for the afternoon.  She loved twirling in it and even spent a good portion of play time "swimming" on the carpet.  Pretend play is such an important part of their development.

The costume material is soft and durable so it doesn't feel itchy and is not going to be easily ripped.  I was a little concerned about the sequins being itchy, but there is a netting underneath them so the costume can be worn on bare skin without irritation.  The included headband is a nice finishing  touch and very comfortable with the soft shells.  I was very impressed by the quality of the costume and materials.  My daughter is very opinionated about what we put on her so the the fact that she left this on for hours was surprising...when play time was over she wanted to keep it on until I made her change so we could go to the park.

I chose a size medium (fits sizes 3-4).  My daughter is 3 and true to size.  As you can see, she actually has some room to grow into this so it will fit for more than one season!

Where we live Halloween is a tricky holiday as far as weather goes -- Some years it is still in the 80s and other years it is in the 50s or 60s so choosing a costume appropriate for different temperatures can be a challenge.  I love that this costume is light enough you could wear it comfortably in hotter weather, but also is roomy enough to allow for layering if it happens to be a cold year.  It is also designed in a way that makes layering easy without affecting the look of the costume!

If you're little ones love dress up as much as mine do, be sure to check out the selection over on Costume Discounters.  No need to wait for Halloween to play either! With the quality of the costume I don't have to worry about my girls ruining it up before October gets here.

Halloween can be a fun holiday for kids, but it can also be dangerous. Be sure to check out these Halloween safety tips to keep your family safe this year!
